High Temperature EVA Adhesive

Our high temperature EVA adhesive is a thermoplastic hot melt adhesive based on ethylene vinyl acetate, specially formulated for industrial bonding processes operating at 180–210°C.

Compared with standard EVA adhesives, this high-temperature grade is designed for applications requiring stable melt viscosity, strong initial tack, fast setting and reliable bonding on dense or heat-resistant substrates.

The adhesive is 100% solvent-free and sets through cooling without moisture curing. It is suitable for furniture, woodworking, packaging, mattress manufacturing, textile lamination and selected automotive interior applications.

Performance Features of Our High Temperature EVA Adhesive

high temperature EVA adhesive

High Temperature Processing

This EVA adhesive is formulated for 180–210°C application temperatures, making it suitable for industrial equipment that requires higher-temperature hot melt processing.

Strong Initial Tack

The adhesive develops strong initial tack within seconds, helping components stay in position during high-speed production before the adhesive has fully cooled.

Fast Setting

The standard specification provides an open time of 8–15 seconds and a setting time below 10 seconds, supporting automated and continuous production.

Stable Melt Viscosity

A controlled melt viscosity helps maintain consistent adhesive application at operating temperature and supports stable production with fewer machine adjustments.

Low Stringing

The optimized viscosity profile helps reduce stringing and dripping during application, helping keep equipment and finished surfaces cleaner.

Thermal Stability

The formulation is designed for prolonged heating in industrial hot melt equipment, helping reduce adhesive degradation and carbon buildup during extended production runs.

Application Temperature and Processing

The recommended application temperature is 180–210°C. Operating below the recommended range may reduce wetting and bonding performance, while excessive temperature may increase the risk of discoloration or thermal degradation.

For production optimization, the following parameters should be considered together:

  • Adhesive temperature
  • Melt viscosity
  • Open time
  • Machine speed
  • Adhesive application amount
  • Substrate temperature
  • Edge or bonding material
  • Cooling conditions

Because equipment and application systems differ, the actual production setting should be established through testing with the selected adhesive grade.

Compatible Equipment

The high temperature EVA adhesive is suitable for industrial hot melt equipment that can maintain the required 180–210°C operating range.

Typical equipment includes:

  • Hot melt tanks
  • Roller applicators
  • Edge banding machines
  • Extrusion applicators
  • Other compatible industrial hot melt systems

It is not recommended for standard low-temperature glue guns designed for approximately 120–160°C operation, because they may not provide the required processing temperature for this grade.

High Temperature EVA Adhesive for Industrial Applications

Furniture Manufacturing

High temperature EVA adhesive is widely used for edge banding, panel assembly and decorative component bonding in furniture manufacturing.

It can be used for PVC and ABS edge banding, melamine-faced boards, raw wood and MDF or particle board applications under suitable processing conditions.

Woodworking

The adhesive can be used for veneer lamination, decorative molding attachment, photo-frame assembly and other woodworking applications involving wood and coated surfaces.

See our adhesive for woodworking page for broader woodworking adhesive applications.

Packaging

High temperature EVA adhesive can be considered for industrial packaging applications where higher thermal stability is required, including carton assembly, box bonding and selected label applications.

Mattress Manufacturing

The adhesive can be used to bond foam, fabric and related mattress components where fast setting and stable processing are required.

Automotive Interior Components

Selected high temperature EVA grades can be used for interior component assembly, including headliners, door trim, felt lamination and carpet-related applications where thermal stability and low volatile content are required.

Compatible Materials

Our high temperature EVA adhesive can be matched with a variety of substrates and materials.

Wood

Suitable for raw wood, engineered wood and other porous wood materials.

MDF

MDF provides a relatively uniform bonding surface and is widely used in furniture and panel applications.

Particle Board

The adhesive can be used with raw and melamine-faced particle board under suitable application conditions.

PVC

PVC edge banding is a common application in furniture production. Adhesive grade and machine conditions should be matched to the PVC material.

ABS

ABS requires careful adhesive selection because of its surface characteristics. Sample testing is recommended before production.

Paper and Coated Materials

The adhesive can be used with decorative paper, foil-faced boards and selected coated materials, subject to compatibility testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating temperature of high temperature EVA adhesive?

The recommended application temperature is 180-210°C at the nozzle or roller of the applicator. If the temperature is operated below this range, the wetting of the substrate may be insufficient and the bond may be weak, while the temperature above 210°C may lead to discolouration or thermal degradation of the adhesive. Remember that readings from the machine may not be accurate, always use a calibrated thermometer to check the actual temperature.

Is this adhesive suitable for edge banding machines?

Yes. It is designed for automatic and manual edge banding machines at 180-210°C and can be used in roller-type and tank-type applicators of major machine manufacturers. The viscosity at 200°C (60,000 – 90,000 mPa·s) is appropriate for the standard roller gap and board feed speed in industrial machines.

How should EVA hot melt adhesive be stored?

Keep in original sealed packaging in a cool place (5-30°C), out of direct sunlight and heat. Properly stored, will keep for 24 months. Store pellets and granules in sealed bags to avoid moisture absorption that could result in bubbling during melting.

How do I choose between high temperature and standard EVA adhesive?

The high temperature grade is recommended for bonding wood, PVC, and ABS, as well as for applications where the finished product may be exposed to temperatures exceeding 60°C. A standard-grade EVA is more economical for lightweight packaging, paper or foam. Not sure which grade to use for your application? Talk to our technical team.

Can high temperature EVA adhesive be used with a standard glue gun?

No. The adhesive can be used in industrial hot melt applications including edge banders, hot melt tanks and extrusion applicators that allow for a temperature range of 180-210°C. Standard glue guns operate at 120-160°C and cannot get hot enough for proper performance.
