High Temperature EVA Adhesive
What Is High Temperature EVA Adhesive?
The high temperature EVA adhesive is a hot melt adhesive based on ethylene vinyl acetate, specially formulated for industrial bonding processes which are applied at temperatures ranging from 180°C to 210°C. Compared to standard EVA adhesives, which are applied between 130°C and 160°C and are suitable for bonding lightweight packaging or paper, the high temperature grade has been specially developed with a higher ethylene ratio and advanced tackifier systems that provide outstanding mechanical strength, fast set speed and stable bonding on dense or heat-resistant substrates.
It is a 100% solvent-free thermoplastic adhesive that turns into a low-viscosity fluid when applied and sets firmly when it cools, without the need for moisture curing. Industries supported were furniture, woodworking, packaging, mattress making, textile lamination and automotive interior assembly.
Performance Features of Our High Temperature EVA Adhesive

Excellent Heat Resistance
The high temperature EVA adhesive delivers outstanding bonding durability and can withstand continuous operating temperatures of up to 80°C after curing. The high softening point of the formulation prevents bonded assemblies from creepage, delamination and strength loss during the downstream processing and in warm end-use applications like vehicle interior and industrial packaging lines.
Strong Initial Tack
The formula is designed from the start to be aggressive hot tack. The adhesive bonds the substrate in seconds and creates a mechanical bond as soon as it touches the substrate, even before it is fully cooled. This is important for high speed production lines that are automated and require parts to be aligned by conveyor without clamps or fixtures.
Low Stringing During Application
The optimised melt viscosity profile minimises adhesive stringing and dripping at operating temperature. This minimizes machine cleaning downtime, reduces adhesive waste per unit and maintains finished surfaces cleaner, a measurable benefit in furniture and packaging applications where surface appearance is a quality measure.
Environmentally Friendly Formula
Our high temperature EVA adhesive is formulated with no solvents, no halogenated compounds, and no heavy metals, and meets ISO, CE and CARB environmental standards. Low VOCs at operating temperature provide a safer factory environment and comply with the VOCs regulations of export markets in Europe and North America.

Why Choose Our High Temperature EVA Adhesive?

Improve Production Efficiency
The high temperature EVA adhesive bonds in 8-15 seconds, enabling edge banding lines to run at full feed speed without compromising bond quality. Low stringing melt behaviour helps to reduce nozzle blockages and the need to clean the machine, thus recovering valuable production time in multi-shift operations. Thermal stability at operating temperature also refers to the ability of the adhesive to resist charring for long periods in the tank without causing loss of purging during the start-up of each shift.
Reduce Manufacturing Costs
Our high temperature EVA adhesive is cost effective in three ways: application weight, rework rate and waste. Optimised viscosity at 180-210°C allows for the control of bead width and reduces the amount of adhesive per linear metre. Good initial tack minimises edge lifting and mis-bonded panels, one of the most expensive defect categories in the panel furniture manufacturing process. The low stringing formula further reduces clean up waste. These savings will add up over a production year without the need for new equipment.
Compatible With Various Materials
Our high temperature EVA adhesive will bond PVC edge banding, ABS panels, melamine faced boards, raw wood, MDF, particle board and coated decorative paper. This means that for manufacturers with mixed substrate production lines, no need to order different grades of adhesives – simplifying procurement, inventory cost and avoiding the risk of grade misapplication.
Applications of High Temperature EVA Adhesive
Furniture Manufacturing
Edge banding, the bonding of PVC, ABS, melamine or solid wood edge strips to the cut faces of panels, is the main use of high temperature EVA adhesive in furniture manufacturing. This adhesive can be used with high speed automatic edge banding machines or manual edge banders and can be used at 180-210C, creating clean, bubble-free bonds that satisfy the visual and structural demands of flat pack and assembled furniture. It is also applied in cabinet assembly to join corners, drawers and frame members together.
Woodworking Industry
High temperature EVA adhesive is mainly used in general woodworking for wood panel veneer lamination, photo frame assembly and decorative moulding attachment. The high heat resistance guarantees that the final products will remain intact in hot conditions, which is essential for decorative items that could be placed next to lighting or in rooms exposed to sunlight. It is suitable for use with both porous wood surfaces and non-porous coated films, making it a versatile material for use in a variety of woodworking products.
Packaging Industry
High temperature EVA adhesive provides softening point and bond strength that is not available in standard packaging grades for packages that are exposed to high temperatures during transportation, storage or use, such as industrial packaging. It is employed for carton sealing, box assembly and label bonding applications where thermal stability is a specified requirement, not a desired attribute.
Mattress Production
EVA hot melt adhesive is used in mattress manufacturing to join foam layers, fabric covers and edge tape elements. The high temperature grade is particularly suitable for bonding high-density foams and thick fabric assemblies, providing deeper adhesive penetration and fast setting performance to maintain production line efficiency. The low VOC version is suitable for use in mattress factories, where indoor air quality is regulated.
Automotive Interior Components
Some of the most challenging applications for hot melt adhesives are found in the automotive interior assembly, which involves high-temperature cycles, vibration, exposure to cleaning fluids, and stringent fogging and VOC limits. In the automotive industry, our high temperature EVA adhesive is used for headliner bonding, door panel trim attachment, felt lamination and carpet assembly. The high temperature stability of the adhesive after cure (up to 80°C) and low volatile content make it a suitable and reliable solution for automotive tier suppliers.
Materials Suitable for Bonding

Our high temperature EVA adhesive bonds well on a variety of industrial substrates. Knowing the substrate compatibility allows production engineers to choose the right grade and to optimise application parameters.
Wood—The strong bond between raw timber, finger-jointed boards and engineered wood products is achieved by the adhesive penetrating the porous wood structure on application and being rapidly mechanically anchored on cooling. Bond quality is influenced by grain orientation and moisture content, with the best results obtained from kiln-dried or acclimatised timber.
MDF—MDF’s smooth, uniform surface is ideal for hot melt bonding. The adhesive is evenly applied to the face, provides a uniform glue line, and has high peel strength, especially in edge banding where the bond line is exposed. Due to the low permeability of MDF, set time is mainly dependent on cooling rate and not on substrate absorption.
Particle Board—One of the main materials used in flat-pack furniture production. Our adhesive will bond to raw particle board faces and melamine faced surfaces. Rougher surface texture of raw particle board offers extra mechanical interlocking to improve bond strength in structural use.
PVC—PVC edge banding is the most common substrate for high temperature EVA adhesive in the furniture industry. The adhesive will adhere to rigid and flexible PVC grades. In cold environments, pre-heating the face of the panel to 40-50°C will help ensure wetting and minimize the chance of setting before complete contact with the substrate.
ABS—High temperature EVA adhesive is suitable for bonding ABS edge banding and panel materials. ABS’s low surface energy requires a higher application temperature to ensure good wetting, which is why standard temperature EVA grades don’t work well on ABS substrates.
Paper and Coated Substrates—EVA adhesive works well with decorative paper, foil-faced boards and aqueous coated surfaces. On coated substrates, adhesion is related to surface energy, and bond testing is recommended on specific coatings prior to full production deployment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the operating temperature of high temperature EVA adhesive?
The recommended application temperature is 180-210°C at the nozzle or roller of the applicator. If the temperature is operated below this range, the wetting of the substrate may be insufficient and the bond may be weak, while the temperature above 210°C may lead to discolouration or thermal degradation of the adhesive. Remember that readings from the machine may not be accurate, always use a calibrated thermometer to check the actual temperature.
Is this adhesive suitable for edge banding machines?
Yes. It is designed for automatic and manual edge banding machines at 180-210°C and can be used in roller-type and tank-type applicators of major machine manufacturers. The viscosity at 200°C (60,000 – 90,000 mPa·s) is appropriate for the standard roller gap and board feed speed in industrial machines.
How should EVA hot melt adhesive be stored?
Keep in original sealed packaging in a cool place (5-30°C), out of direct sunlight and heat. Properly stored, will keep for 24 months. Store pellets and granules in sealed bags to avoid moisture absorption that could result in bubbling during melting.
How do I choose between high temperature and standard EVA adhesive?
The high temperature grade is recommended for bonding wood, PVC, and ABS, as well as for applications where the finished product may be exposed to temperatures exceeding 60°C. A standard-grade EVA is more economical for lightweight packaging, paper or foam. Not sure which grade to use for your application? Talk to our technical team.
Can high temperature EVA adhesive be used with a standard glue gun?
No. The adhesive can be used in industrial hot melt applications including edge banders, hot melt tanks and extrusion applicators that allow for a temperature range of 180-210°C. Standard glue guns operate at 120-160°C and cannot get hot enough for proper performance.
