Heat Resistant Edge Banding Adhesive

Heat resistant edge banding adhesive is a hot melt adhesive specially developed for furniture and cabinet edge banding applications. It bonds PVC, ABS and acrylic edge banding to panel substrates and provides consistent adhesion even when exposed to continuous heat – a great option where regular adhesives would soften or fail.

This heat resistant edge banding adhesive will not lift or delaminate at high temperatures, unlike general purpose hot melt adhesives, that often cause edge lifting and delamination in furniture in kitchens, bathrooms and warm climate applications. The heat resistant edge banding adhesive is applied easily at 180-220°C, wets the substrate rapidly, and has high initial tack to ensure efficient production throughput.

It is available in both EVA and PUR grades, and is used on a wide variety of edge banding applications, including standard furniture production lines and high-end seamless and zero-joint processes. Both grades can be used in automatic and semi-automatic edge banding machines and are suitable for high volume manufacturing.

Keep the adhesive in its original sealed package, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. In this case, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of production.

What causes edge lifting, and how does a heat resistant adhesive help?

Edge lifting is a defect where the edge banding strip separates from the panel substrate due to heat, humidity or mechanical stress. A heat resistant formulation retains cohesive strength at higher temperatures, so it will not lose its bond where a general purpose adhesive would.
