High Temperature PUR Adhesive
Product Overview
High temperature PUR adhesive is a single component, solvent free, reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive designed to bond in environments where conventional hot melts cannot. The bond is a thermoset bond, which is irreversible, and can withstand continuous service temperatures up to 150°C, is heat resistant, steam resistant, humidity resistant and mechanically resistant. A polyurethane hot melt adhesive, it is ideal for edge banding, flat lamination, furniture production and assembly of decorative panels, and can be applied to PVC, ABS, MDF, particleboard, wood veneer and aluminum profiles.
Performance Features & Benefits

Excellent Heat Resistance
Unlike the 60-70°C service temperature limit of traditional EVA hot melt adhesives, our high temperature PUR adhesive can withstand continuous service temperatures up to 120°C-150°C. Moisture-curing crosslinking reaction creates a thermoset bond that is not affected by thermal load, which is essential for kitchen cabinet edges that are exposed to steam, automotive interior trim in sun-heated cars and electronics housings near heat-generating components. After curing, the adhesive film has a temperature range of -40℃ to 150℃.
Strong Bonding Performance
The reactive polyurethane chemistry creates a true chemical bond with both the substrate and the edge tape, not just a physical bond as with conventional hot melts. The lap shear strength of MDF-to-PVC assemblies is greater than 4 MPa after full cure, and the peel resistance is more than double that of similar EVA assemblies. This directly impacts on lower rework, less delamination issues and a higher quality end product with an ultra-fine, near invisible glue line.
Fast Curing and High Productivity
Initial tack forms in seconds after application and downstream processing can start almost immediately on an automated line. Generally, full structural cure, which is caused by ambient moisture, is obtained in 24-48 hours at standard conditions. The application temperature range is 120°C-180°C, suitable for the leading edge banding machine platform. Our high temperature PUR adhesive is suitable for high throughput production at recommended line speeds of 15-30 m/min, while maintaining a high bond quality.
Suitable for Automated Production Lines
High temperature PUR adhesive is designed for continuous feed automated edge banding and lamination equipment, providing the stability of viscosity during long production runs. Low char formation reduces the need for tank cleaning, and batch stability of melt behavior reduces production interruptions and waste.

Applications of High Temperature PUR Adhesive

Edge Banding Industry
High temperature PUR adhesive for edge banding is the best adhesive for modern CNC edge banding machines for kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities and wooden doors. Edge tape, PVC, ABS, acrylic or wood veneer, will not come loose under the pressure of kitchen steam, bathroom humidity or mechanical impact. The ultra-thin glue line is hardly noticeable, characteristic of high quality custom furniture manufacturing.
Furniture Manufacturing
Whether it’s on dining tables, wardrobe carcasses, designer office desks or retail display units, PUR hot melt adhesive meets the structural and aesthetic requirements of contemporary furniture production. Its bonding properties allow it to be used with a wide variety of materials, including wood composites and metal trim, and PVC foils and curved MDF profiles, providing designers with increased flexibility and fewer mechanical fasteners.
Cabinet and Door Production
The bonding environment for kitchen and bathroom cabinet manufacturers is particularly challenging due to the presence of steam, cleaning solutions, temperature fluctuations, and prolonged humidity. The high temperature PUR adhesive is specially developed to ensure bond strength in such applications, thereby minimizing warranty claims and after-sales service expenses for cabinet OEMs and their retail partners.
Decorative Panels
For architectural interiors, wall panels, ceiling boards, and decorative cladding systems require adhesives that are both visually accurate and perform over time. PUR adhesive is suitable for the production of high quality decorative panels with foil-wrapped MDF, lacquered panels and stone-effect laminates, due to its fine glue line and permanent bond.
Woodworking Industry
In addition to furniture, industrial woodworking applications, such as solid wood joinery, engineered flooring underlays, structural composite panels and specialty millwork, also benefit from PUR adhesive’s ability to withstand moisture-induced bond failure. It is especially appreciated for export woodworking because it is able to withstand the humidity of shipping containers and the changing climates of the market.
Suitable Materials
Most common surface preparations are acceptable for bonding with our high temperature PUR adhesive to the following substrates:
| Edge Tape / Foil | Panel / Board Substrate |
| PVC | MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) |
| ABS | Particle Board |
| Acrylic | Plywood |
| Melamine Paper | Wood Veneer |
| Wood Veneer | Aluminum Profiles |
Note:Substrate surface condition directly affects bond performance. For challenging or non-standard materials, pre-treatment may be required. Contact our technical team for substrate-specific application guidance.
Why Choose PUR Adhesive for High Temperature Applications?

Not all adhesives fail at the glue line. Many occur at the specification stage where a product is chosen for its cost, not its application. All defects in an adhesive system are revealed at high temperatures. High temperature PUR adhesive has a number of characteristics that make it the technically appropriate choice when heat resistance is an absolute must.
It Performs Where Conditions Are Harshest
Bathroom vanities are subjected to steam every day. Automotive interior panels are in cars that are exposed to temperatures of 80-90°C in summer sun, and are exposed to the freeze-thaw seasons outdoors. These are not edge cases—they are the real world conditions that high temperature PUR adhesive is designed to withstand. The crosslinked polyurethane network is not subject to thermal expansion stress, is not subject to swelling at the bond interface due to moisture, and is dimensionally stable where softer adhesive systems visibly and expensively swell due to moisture.
Zero Re-work from Thermal Failure
The cost of rework due to adhesive failure is far higher than the cost of the adhesive itself. Every rework operation uses panel material, machine time, man hours and sometimes causes customer claims. Thermal rework failure is virtually eliminated as a production variable since the bond formed by reactive PUR hot melt adhesive is thermoset after cure.
Meets Stringent Environmental and Safety Standards
Our high temperature PUR adhesive is solvent free and contains low free isocyanate content that is compliant with CARB, RoHS and CE Standards. For manufacturers seeking to meet green building certification, low VOC procurement policies or export markets with chemical import restrictions, choosing a certified industrial PUR adhesive from a supplier with proven environmental compliance is a significant sourcing risk reduction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does PUR adhesive require special equipment?
Yes. Moisture-reactive high temperature PUR adhesive needs a closed, sealed glue tank system, not open pot equipment. Edge banding and lamination machines for PUR have sealed tanks and humidity controlled application heads to prevent premature curing.
Can PUR adhesive be used in cold workshop environments?
Below 15°C Tack is reduced and full cure takes longer than the normal 24-48 hours. Preheating of the substrates and maintaining the bonding area above 15 °C are recommended. If your production environment is always cold, talk to our tech team. We have low-temperature grade options.
What happens if PUR adhesive is overheated in the machine?
When the temperature in the tank is more than 180°C, the viscosity decreases and the color darkens and carbonization occurs. For breaks longer than two hours reduce the temperature in the tank to approximately 100°C. Periodic tank cleaning prevents build-up of char from affecting bond quality.
How long before high temperature PUR adhesive reaches full handling strength?
Set time is seconds after pressing, so downstream handling can start immediately. However, full structural cure takes 24–48 hours at 20°C / 50%RH. Complete cure must be achieved prior to steam exposure or stress testing.
How should PUR adhesive be stored?
Store in original sealed pack below 25°C and protect from sunlight and moisture. Re-seal after opening-PUR cures on contact with ambient moisture and even short exposure before use can degrade performance.
